Framing Efficiently

This is a wall section from our Candler Park Project

 1. Ladder framing to allow for insulation (top and bottom blocks to be added for moulding blocking)
2. Engineered headers that allow for insulation
3. Stack framing (all members are in line with each other vertically)
4. All plates sealed with caulking
5. 2×6 exterior walls to allow for more insulation

Our framing techniques:

1. Cost you less up front while lowering your utility bills in the future
2. Focused on durability
3. Lower the impact on the environment
4. Incorporate air sealing
5. Consistently focus on creating space for insulation instead of wood

This chart shows the range of emotions felt by all parties during  a renovation.  It is so accurate it makes me laugh every time I see it.  My sister cut it out of the NY TIMES a few years ago. It was created by Dan Bawden.
