A Repurposing Project

We love to take the opportunity to reuse materials. It’s greener, it’s a huge money-saver (no need to buy new boards or other materials wherever these are going, and no fees to put them in a dumpster and dispose of them), and it instills a sense of history into a home. Would you ever have thought these planks from the roof:

Another advantage of using repurposed boards is that they often come in wider dimensions than what you can find on the market today. Forestry practices have changed – for example, you just don’t find nice wide pine boards anymore. When you do your renovation, you may be sitting on a gold mine of these great boards. Check the attic floors and roof boards. Your contractor may be able to incorporate them into the design of your home.
