The Pope High School Marketing Class came up with the idea of taking an empty room and turning it into a coffee shop.  We designed the room and built the cabinet and countertops.

  • We left many of the cabinets as open so that things would be easier to find and to keep the cost down.
  • We used birch plywood and a dark stain to help the units hold up to wear and tear over time.
  • We used a slate grey laminate top for easy cleaning and low maintenance.

2. Engineered headers that allow for insulation
3. Stack framing (all members are in line with each other vertically)
4. All plates sealed with caulking
5. 2×6 exterior walls to allow for more insulation

I once knew an ignorant remodeler that judged how successful a year he was having by how many ‘big box’ dumpsters he went through…..OK that remodeler was me.  BUT I have changed and we are proving it this year.  Despite removing half of the first floor walls along with the entire roof covered in two layers of shingles we have only used one 30yard dumpster.
