Framing Efficiently

This is a wall section from our Candler Park Project

 1. Ladder framing to allow for insulation (top and bottom blocks to be added for moulding blocking)
2. Engineered headers that allow for insulation
3. Stack framing (all members are in line with each other vertically)
4. All plates sealed with caulking
5. 2×6 exterior walls to allow for more insulation

Our framing techniques:

1. Cost you less up front while lowering your utility bills in the future
2. Focused on durability
3. Lower the impact on the environment
4. Incorporate air sealing
5. Consistently focus on creating space for insulation instead of wood

I once knew an ignorant remodeler that judged how successful a year he was having by how many ‘big box’ dumpsters he went through…..OK that remodeler was me.  BUT I have changed and we are proving it this year.  Despite removing half of the first floor walls along with the entire roof covered in two layers of shingles we have only used one 30yard dumpster.

We are currently working on a second story addition in Candler Park. We have 2 main goals while completing this project:

1. Make the addition look like an original part of the home.

2. Make the home as Green as possible.
